Is 5 months too long to wait for the first set of Invisalign Braces to arrive?

My son had his impressions made on January 8th. they said it would take 8-10 weeks for them to come back. It's been almost 5 months now and we still haven't received them. Is this normal? I have called them a couple of times and they keep telling me it takes longer, one time it was 12 weeks and then again they said 16 weeks. They keep changing the time.

Construction of the appliances have on occasion taken 5 weeks, but in general, from the time the impressions are UPS'ed to Texas, are scanned, the computer simulation is worked and re-worked by me, the robots in Juarez, Mexico cut the models and make the aligners and ship them back to me, it is usually about 3 weeks.  If it is taking longer that about 4-6 weeks, there is something else holding things up at the doctor's office. Absolutely no reason for 5 months.

This is not normal. The aligners will likely not fit I would see about changing to a new provider

The wait time for your aligners would typically be 3 to 6 weeks depending on the complexity of the case.
