Hello, Thanks for your query. Dermaroller for scalp is effective and combined with tropical minoxidil gives good results. For scalp 0.5mm or max 1mm droller may be used longer needles cause collagen production and scarring which is harmful for hair growth. Unlike other areas where pinpoint bleeding occurs scalp microneedling is to be done more superficailly.

There are studies regarding PRP micro needling and hair growth. The 1.5 mm needle will not kill any hair follicles. For home use I suggest 0.5 mm, minoxidil can be used 2-4 days after as most preps have alcohol or propylene glycol- this can cause irritation. All the best, Dr Davin Lim
