Hair Transplant; what the max amount of grafts that can be placed?

After a private consultation, any hair surgeon will advice you to keep on with some medicine for a year and then it would be good to consider a hair transplant surgery. As far as I can see 4000-4500 grafts is enough for your head. 

Everyone is different. In general maximum harvestable hair in a person's life time can be up to 8,000 to 10,000 grafts.  For some this number may be lower or higher.

Porterj89   Each person will have a different amount of density in the donor area that will determine a safe  harvest.  Unfortunately I have seen people who have  had too much moved, leaving deficiencies in their donor area.   If the density is great per centimeter square, usually 2500 grafts  (FUE) can be taken. reminder each graft may have multiple follicles.  More than this number  and your surgeon may be dividing the grafts which can decrease their likelihood of growth.  This is a " trick" I see often in persons who go overseas for cheap transplants.  If there is  great density, clients can have 1, 2, or 3 FUE procedures.

Haw many can you move? -- a lot!  But how much do you have?  You want to maintain a density of at least 35-40 FU's per square centimeter to not look thin.  I'd suggest seeing a hair surgeon in your area who is familiar with and LIKES FUE and get their oppinion.  There may be some medical therapies you should consider as well.  Good luck!

The maximum number of grafts in the donor area in one's lifetime is 0-10,000.Some people are not candidates (those with diffuse unpatterned alopecia, DUPA) and some are great candidates. The max safe density is around 40 FU per sq cm

The maximum you can do depends on your donor site.  I would caution you to not push your physician to overly dense pack as this can impair the survival of the grafts.  Let your physician lead you, but it is often better to split your care into a few sessions to achieve maximal density.Best of luck.

depends on how much donor area density you have.  In the best of cases, you can transplant 6k grafts or more over several sessions.  The density can be increased with each procedure.

I always measure the donor area and compare it to the size of the recipient area. I determine the donor density and the greater the donor density, the greater can be the harvest. I have done as many as 5200 grafts in a single session, but that is not my normal harvest. 

The maximum number of grafts that can be harvested in one session is different from one person to another depending on their degree of hair loss, hair density and hair laxity.  You need to be seen from close up to have a consultation with hair transplant specialist. Once you are evaluated they can tell you how much hair is available for harvesting and how much that can harvest in each session.
