Since teeth are always moving, I recommend almost all of my patients wear either a retainer or a night guard. I prefer a night guard on top because it will keep the teeth straight but also will help protect the teeth from any grinding/clenching. A retainer will hold the teeth straight but won't really protect from any grinding/clenching habits.
Never a bad idea to wear a night guard to protect your dental work. Also, the porcelain is harder than tooth and can create excessive wear on the opposing teeth over time.
It definitely doesn’t hurt to have one to protect your investment to prevent chipping, grinding, and wearing your new smile away.
