I've heard that supposedly Dysport (Reloxin) is better than Botox because the Dysport lasts longer. Has anyone else heard this? Does the Dysport being used outside the U.S. right now usually last longer than Botox? Thx

Dysport is made of smaller protein particles in relation to Botox, resulting in a quicker onset of action in some patients. Answer: Does Dysport last longer than Botox? Both Dysport and Botox have essentially the same duration for almost all patients. You have to be careful comparing treatments performed at different offices and even by different injectors. The concentration of the product, location of injections, and even how deep the needle is inserted for each injection can all have an effect on the end result. I will occasionally have a patient who responds better to one than the other even when keeping all other variables the same, and in that case we just stick with the brand that works best for them.

Answer: Does Dysport last longer than Botox? Some patients do report that Dysport seems to last longer for them than Botox does, but this is not something that I readily observe clinically. In general, it seems to last about the same amount of time as Botox (3-4 months for most patients).

Answer: The Battle of Relaxers Botox is the most requested since it's the most familiar. Dysport was thought to possibly last longer when it first launched, but after years of use, we've discovered that there's not really a head to head study that bears that out. Often it comes to personal preference.We've learned that certain facial areas work better with one product than the other. Dysport can be more advantageous when a more diffuse result if desired such a fine lines. But in the end it is more often injector skill that determines the results. In my practice, we'll often use some of both to get the best outcome.
