I quit minoxidil 2% after using 10 times, and now i m losing my hairs very fast on that area where i had applied it (hairline and temple area). I feel itchy scalp all the time and hair fall is now like hell. I m very depressed, please help me. my age is 20 after i quit minoxidil my hairline is so thin. please help

During the first few weeks of therapy with minoxidil, it is normal to have some shedding. This is why it is important to counsel patients about the course of therapy so that they expect it and don't halt its use. At times, the liquid version of minoxidil can irritate the scalp due to propylene glycol which can make the scalp itchy. The foam does not contain this ingredient and is generally more tolerable.

In general, minoxidil can cause hair shedding during the first 6 weeks. Old hairs get shed as new hairs come up from underneath. Not everyone benefits from minoxidil.  You may want to speak with a dermatologist or hair restoration specialist about how best to proceed.  In some users of minoxidil, the initial shed is followed by a regrowth but this may take 6-8 months. Scalp itching can occur due to chemical ingredients such as propylene glycol (which is a component of the liquid minoxidil but not the foam).
