BBL done 3 weeks ago to remove freckles but they are still here. If I do a second BBL, will they go away?

BBL typically requires multiple treatments to address freckles or sun spots as  it is not an aggressive treatment and is therefore a gradual improvement over time. Our patients generally do a series of treatments every 3-4 weeks and then go on a "Forever Young" maintenance protocol which involves a treatment every 3 months or so. It's kind of like "gym for your skin" since not only does BBL correct skin concerns such as freckles, but also prevents and slows down the skin aging process. Discuss your goals with the physician as she/he should be able to provide you with realistic results after a series of 4-6 treatments. Hope this helps, Best of luck, Manish Khanna MD, FRCPC

Thank you for your question. BBL results generally improve with subsequent treatments. It is not uncommon to see a minimal improvement after only 1 treatment. We often suggest 2-4 baseline treatments followed by 1-2 maintenance treatments per year to maintain results. All the best. Dr. Hetz. 

OK, most Specialist would tell patients with freckles that they may need more than one treatment for a good clearance of freckles- I normally tell them at least two BBL or one session of BBL combined with Fraxel 1927 laser. Pre and post photos should show a difference with one treatment. Freckles are recurrent, so expect top ups every few years. CheersDr Davin LimLaser DermatologistBRISBANE, Australiawestderm.com.au
