Six months ago, I finally had the surgery that would make me feel 100% complete in my body with a Surgeon in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, the right size of my chest didn't heal at all like my left side. After six months of continuous chest binding and massaging, nothing changed. So I called up my Surgeon and expressed my concerns; he did liposuction on my right side in his office. Now a month has gone by, following my Surgeon's instructions exactly, I'm still not seeing any real change.
Answer: Healing After Top Surgery I generally use the some sort of compression depending on the method of surgery. This may be a binder, spandex tank top, or something similar. Drains are also used at times but I avoid them whenever possible. These will be removed between three and five days. Most of the sutures used are absorbable and do not need to be removed except those that may be in place around of the Areola. The sutures will be cut or removed between seven and 10 days. You may bathe the day after surgery but keep the dressings dry. If they get wet, they can be dried with a hairdryer. Scar therapy is the same as other surgical procedures. Silicon gel and silicon sheets can be used to control scarring. Products such as BioCorneum, Scarguard and others are useful. On occasion we will use a laser treatments to diminish the redness of scars. Now, the best thing to do is continue along all of your follow-up appointments with your surgeon, and make sure to take any questions or concerns directly to them as they arise. Healing may take a while and your own surgeon will know your case the best. Good luck!

Answer: FTM revision At only a month post-op it's still too early to tell. Keep in touch with your surgeon. I tell patients the final result is not seen until 6 months (at least) post-op. If all that was left behind was extra fat, liposuction would have been the logical choice. It's hard to be patient, but waiting is really the best medicine at this point. Confirm any changes to your surgeon's post-op plan with the surgeon of course.

Answer: Revision TOP Surgery Hi poeticarus,Thanks for the post and photos. At one month it is too soon to tell what is causing the excess fullness in the right chest. It could be swelling from the recent revision surgery, remaining fatty tissue, remaining breast tissue, or all of the above. Time will tell and at 6 months you will have a clearer picture. If it is breast tissue, it will need to be excised as liposcution will not be successful in removing it. At this point in time it's a waiting game despite the urge of wanting to go back in and address it. Waiting at least 6 months is the best thing to do. Sincerely,Dr. Dadvand

Answer: Revision surgery Thanks for the question and sorry about your frustrations. I see what you are concerned about. With it only being a month there is residual swelling so its going to be hard to assess the successfulness of the second surgery until 3-6 months has gone by. Good Luck"The above answer has been given without seeing this patient and cannot be substituted for actual in-person examination and medical advice; it is only opinion. Seek in-person treatment with a trained medical professional for appropriate care."

Answer: FTM Male. I had Top Surgery 6 months ago and then a Revision Surgery a month ago, still unsure of my overall results. Your photos clearly show that the right side is larger. Since you are only one month at the time of this photo, you are still swollen so I would give it several more months to allow for any substantial swelling to subside. You should still discuss your concerns about the results with your surgeon. It may very well be that the fullness and greater size on the right is due to retained breast tissue which will not disappear with liposuction. That would mean that in order to improve this, additional direct excision of the residual breast tissue would be needed.Steven Turkeltaub, MD
