Hello, Two days ago I noticed that my white pillow was full of fine short hair almost like hair building fibers! You can barely notice them. I could not find anything like this online and I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what that is. Should I be concerned? Thanks
Answer: Fine short hairs falling The first thing I would recommend is to count the hairs. 100 hairs falling each day is normal as the hair's turn over and regrow. If you count more than 100 hairs per day for 5 days in a row that means something else is going on which could be Telogen Effluvium or Alopecia Areata or another problem. The fact that they are small and fine could be an indicator of natural hair loss (100 hairs a day or less) of androgenetic alopecia. If that is the case, it is important you see a specialist who can stop the hormonal hair loss right away. If that is the case, every day you do nothing you are losing 10 of those 100 hairs permanently and they can never be grown back. In either case, please go and see a hair loss specialist. Best of luck - Robert Nettles MD (Stop and reGrow)

Answer: Shedding hair - what is the normal amount? Typically people lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This is a part of normal shedding and these follicles will regrow hair. If you are seeing more than 100 a day and feel that your scalp is getting more noticeable you may want to see a hair restoration physician. Your doctor will perform a microscopic evaluation to see where and if you are having miniaturization.
