Pot Belly from Birth, Tummy Tuck Didnt Fix It?

There is a condition called prune belly syndrome that would not apply to you and cannot be surgically fixed. Any abdominal wall laxity can be corrected by an abdominoplasty. If the prominence is caused by excess intraperitoneal fat only weight loss will flatten the abdomen.

Without pictures it is hard to give an opinion. You may have loose fascia or you may have a lot of fat which is causing the pot belly. Seek out a qualified plastic surgeon for a consult.

A pot belly can be due to one of three factors:


Excess subcutaneous fat

Laxity of the anterior abdominal wall

Excess visceral or intra-abdominal fat


The first two factors can be corrected surgically, number 3 is managed by diet and exercise.

Thank you for your post.  Posting before and after photos is helpful for a discussion.  Certainly there are conditions that can cause a 'pot belly', but they are usually remedies with surgeries.  Consider using a dermal matrix for reinforement of  the abdominal muscles if this is the problem.
