Hi. I am wanting a 2nd HT to improve the top area of my head & to touch up the hairline. I have had an email consultation from a reputable surgeon & they have advised that they cannot carry out the procedure because there is a risk that they will damage the grafts implanted from my first surgery. I am trying to be proactive & I was always under the impression that the grafts were permanent & a skilled surgeon could work around them. I would appreciate some advice on the matter?
Answer: 2nd FUE Hello and thank you for your question. Yes it is possible to have a second FUE procedure provided you have sufficient donor area. Best wishes. Dr. T

Answer: 2nd FUE Hello,Yes its possible to carry out a 2nd hair transplant subject to the availability of donor hair. Using magnification, which is how most of us work, it's possible to implant grafts around the existing hair, but if there is not much space around the hairs and your density looks low due to miniaturisation of your pre-existing hair rather than hairless spots, then its best to have non-surgical treatments and give these hairs a chance to respond to medications. Also in young patients (I am not aware of your age), it's best to delay the 2nd hair transplant, just in case your hair loss worsens, so the donor can be used more efficiently, after all we have a limited supply of donor hair, so makes sense to use them carefully. All the best

Answer: Repeat hair transplant In order to determine if you would be a candidate for a repeat hair transplant procedure we would have to more closely examine that donor region.

Answer: You need more close up advice You should check with a local hair transplant dr. to find out if there are still miniaturized hairs in between your transplants. If yes, you want to concentrate on rejuvenation of these weak hair follicles. This will give you 2 benefits:1. You will add density to the area without a hair transplant2. You will be able to stop progressive hair lossIn our practice we use a combination of treatments to re-activate weak hair follicles with great success. You can find some examples on my account on realself.Ps: it is surely possible to work in between existing hair follicles, provided you have the head shaven to about 1 mm. An experienced hair transplantation physician should not have any problems placing in between existing hair follicles since high magnification is used.
