2 months after symmastia repair tenting. Will this improve with time or did the repair failed?

Dear maggadance,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 2 months  post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD

HI and thanks for the question. We don't have a preop photo for comparison, but your postop photo demonstrates two well separated breasts. So it seems like you have had a good repair. When you bend over you will put more stretch on your tissue away from the sternum, so some tenting isn't surprising. I would avoid the bras that make that tenting more obvious. I ask my patients to be very careful with what they wear for the first 3-6 months while the scar tissue is forming that helps hold the repair together.

 Based on your photograph, you do not have symmastia or medial breast implant displacement (in other words, there does not seem to be a failure of the repair).  Some skin  tenting may persist after this type repair (most visible when patients are wearing tight clothing or bras);  sometimes improvement is seen over the course of the first several months.  At this point, my best advice;  continued patience and close follow-up with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes.
