After having my 2 children i have been a consistent weight and stay in shape, however one thing that has not improved over the 5 years is the skin above my belly button. It is really depressing me as I work hard to keep in shape but look awful!
Answer: Umbilicoplasty vs Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question. With regards to Belly Button surgery, this doesn't address anything beyond the belly button area, meaning it won't address the excess skin, or firm it up for that matter. With regards to after pregnancy, the abdomen is normally one of the first things women bring up. As your abdomen gets bigger with your growing baby taking up lots of room, the covering skin will stretch and you may end up with stretch marks. Excess skin is normal post pregnancy and unfortunately, it generally doesn’t retract beautifully as some of us would hope. So how can a mummy makeover help your abdomen? Liposuction will help remove the excess fat and contour. Some women may also require a Tummy Tuck to remove excess lower abdominal skin. An abdominoplasty will also be performed to repair the abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck is a safe and effective cosmetic surgery to reshape the abdomen area to achieve a flatter, slimmer, more confident new you.Good luck in your findings.

Answer: Umbilicoplasty is only useful in limited cases Umbilicoplasty is a procedure to address the appearance of the belly button (umbilicus) only, and does not remove excess skin on the rest of the abdomen. Generally speaking, removing a significant amount of excess skin both above and below the umbilicus requires a full abdominoplasty. I would recommend seeing a qualified plastic surgeon in your area who can perform a full exam and develop a treatment plan to get you the results you want.

Answer: You are a candidate for a procedure to address extra skin, but unfortunately an umbilicoplasty won't be the answer Umbilicoplasty, as it is classically thought of, is an operation designed to improve the appearance of the umbilicus. Thus, it is a very limited procedure, and it would not be used to extend beyond the limits of the belly button. On the other hand, you have a significant amount of loose and excess skin in the entire area around the belly button, and that will not be accessible with a mere umbilicoplasty. You would need some form of abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, to be able to improve the appearance of that. Even then, while some of the excess skin would be removed and the skin tightened, you would always have the stretch marks to some degree. You will need to find an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you properly and outline all of your options to improve the appearance of your tummy. Good luck.
