I’ve had an atrophic scar on the top of my belly button piercing for years. Is there a way to get rid of it while still keeping the piercing?
Answer: A scar revision or subcision should be done for this Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Scar Dear suhdude16, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You might need scar revision in order to get good results. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Treatment for atrophic abdominal scar You might consider an injected fat graft with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The physician would need to do a mini-liposuction to obtain the fat and then mix it with PRP before injecting it into the site. It works for breast augmentation, so it would likely work on a smaller scale here. Likely to be expensive though.
