Does Latisse regrow eyebrows?

Question

Will latisse or any other product help to regrow eyebrow hair where it won’t currently grow? I overplucked for a while over a decade ago and certain areas won’t fill in now no matter how long I leave them alone. Could latisse or any other product help to regrow those areas?

If hair is still present but just growing in finer, then Latisse can help to rebound and thicken the eyebrow hairs. If the follicles are no longer growing hair, then it is possible that a transplant should be considered. It would also be important to ensure that the eyebrow hair was not thinning or lost due to other conditions such as thyroid conditions or lichen planopilaris (LPP). Bloodwork can reveal a thyroid issue by testing TSH, and biopsy can show if LPP exists.

In general, Latisse is FDA approved only to be used on your upper eyelashes, though patients have found that Latisse has been successful in re-growing overplucked eyebrows. Yes, it can definitely help. Because the skin is thicker, and the follicle is deeper, it is not quite as effective and reaching the target, but some patients will see improvement in brow hair growth.

Thank you for your question. The use of Latisse on the eyebrows is off-label, but has been done.  Yes, Latisse may help your eyebrow hairs regrow.  It will help to thicken follicles that are still there, but does not create new ones.  Please go to a board-certified dermatologist to see if Latisse would be a good fit for you.

Thanks for your question.  It is certainly worth a try to help your eyebrows.  I have a lot of patients that use it on the eyelashes and brows and have had good regrowth, but if your brows have scarred and there are no hair follicles or tiny openings on the skin, it is unlikely it will help.  One the skin scars from over plucking or waxing, the hair follicles will not reappear if they have been destroyed.  If you still have hair follicles in the brows, the Latisse will likely help.  Ask your dermatologist if they think your eyebrows have scarred or if you still have follicles.  They will be able to tell with a good exam with their dermatoscope.
