I have low blood pressure. How safe is it for me to have a breast reduction?

High blood pressure is not a contraindication to surgery.  Many patients suffer from blood pressure problems.  You need to ensure your blood pressure is under control, you are taking your medications, and you notify your surgeon of your condition

I can see why they started CPR on you but you simply need to get a medical clearance from your primary physician.  You will have an anesthesiologist managing your throughout your procedure and you should be able to tolerate a reduction without issues.  Much of your problems were probably related to the delivery itself and that is way behind you now.

This is an unusual history and needs to be looked into.  Usually a breast reduction can be performed on most patients. You will need medical clearance.

In your case, the blood pressure  drop was likely related to the combination of drugs given to you during labor.  Before considering breast reduction, this should be brought to the attention of an internist who will work you up. You would need medical clearance and the incident should be brought to the attention of the plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist.  Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and will not involve the same medications. I would not at all be surprised if your hypotension during delivery was related to the combination of factors you mentioned, including the presence of the epidural. For your own peace of mind, undergo a medical workup prior to proceeding with breast reduction surgery.  More than likely you will be able to proceed safely.
