I had a surgery to remove fibroids 3 years ago. I think they sewed me in a weird way because it looks like a deep gun shot wound. The surgeon just said that’s how I heal? Is there anyway to improve the hole, or is it simply too messed up?

Answer: A scar revision must be done to correct this. Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Scars require a combination approach using our HI DEF protocol which uses a combination of lasers, topical scar modulation, and RF treatments to pixelate scars, improve contour, reduce hyperpigmentation, and improve the visibility of the scars so that they are no longer visible in ambient light. Everyone has a unique pattern of scarring and we employ our HIDEF technique to improve texture, color, contour, and topography. We often use a combination of treatments that begin with a careful examination to examine the micro texturing of the acne scars. Atrophic scars and indented scars can benefit from injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Sculptra, and Restylane with or without subcision to remove tethered scars and atrophic depression. Hyper-redness in scars can be improved with V beam laser, Excel V, BBL, IPL, and Venus RF to improve the redness and reduce the visibility of deep scars. Fractional Thulium laser and clear & brilliant can also reduce the inflammation and redness of the scar when combined with topical therapy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. Above all, our combination approach with our clinical nurses and board-certified plastic surgeons can improve the quality of your skin by using at home Melarase creams combined with PRP treatments in our office to improve your skin quality and tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced team of experts in order to reduce your scarring. Finally, hyperpigmentation of scars can be improved with at-home Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads to help reduce active PIH and melanin deposition. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Scar Revision Given the time that has elapsed, there is unlikely to be further positive change in your situation. I would recommend the guidance from a plastic surgeon. The issue may be more than skin deep, and your wound may require a revision of the anterior abdominal way to achieve volume restoration and stability.

Answer: Improving the Appearance of a Stomach Scar After Fibroid Removal Improving the appearance of a scar from fibroid removal surgery is often possible through various treatment options. Here are some potential approaches: Scar Revision Surgery: A plastic surgeon can perform a scar revision procedure to improve the appearance of the scar. This involves removing the old scar tissue and carefully closing the wound to create a less noticeable scar. Laser Therapy: Laser treatments can help reduce the redness and improve the texture of scars. They work by promoting collagen production and smoothing the skin. Steroid Injections: If the scar is raised or hypertrophic, steroid injections can help flatten and soften it over time. Microneedling: This procedure involves using fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, stimulating the body's wound healing process and increasing collagen production, which can improve scar appearance. Topical Treatments: Silicone gel sheets or creams can help reduce scar thickness and improve flexibility. Consistent application over several months is often necessary to see results. Consultation with a Specialist: For the best results, consult with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon specializing in scar treatment. They can assess your scar and recommend the most appropriate treatment options based on its characteristics and your skin type. Each individual's healing process is unique, so a tailored approach is often necessary to achieve the best outcome.
