Should I get a sliding genioplasty/jaw surgery? (Photos)

Question

I think I would benefit a lot from a sliding genioplasty surgery or even jaw surgery. As I look right now, I hate my small, recessed chin. I think it makes me look younger and less attractive. I think the main reason I have a small lower face is because of my weird bite. I had corrective braces for a severe overbite when I was younger. Ideally I would like to increase my vertical chin height by at least 8mm and add 5mm for horizontal length. Any and all opinions, advice, & inputs are welcomed.

A sliding genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay. It is usually performed when the teeth are significantly out of alignment. Make an appointment with an oral surgeon if that's the route you decide to go. Placement of a chin implant can augment the chin forward in addition to giving small amount of vertical height and lateral width. Chin implants are manufactured in a large array of sizes and shapes which is best determined at the time of the consultation and examination. Chin implants are placed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes usually about 30 minutes. For many examples of chin implants, please see the link and the video below

Thanks for writing,The best thing you can do is get a specific type of facial x-ray called a cephalometric x-ray. This film give a perfect 1:1 visualization of your facial bones. Orthognathic or jaw surgery is relevant in a vertically short recessed chin if there is a significant bite issue. (malocclusion) In lieu of that only a sliding genioplasty can create both horizontal and vertical dimensional increases. The combination of 8mms vertical height and 5mms horizontal increase are achievable with a sliding genioplasty. The only caveat is that such a chin advancement will make it more narrow in the frontal view.
