Should I get a sliding genioplasty/jaw surgery? (Photos)

Orthognathic or jaw surgery is relevant in a vertically short recessed chin if there is a significant bite issue. (malocclusion) In lieu of that only a sliding genioplasty can create both horizontal and vertical dimensional increases. The combination of 8mms vertical height and 5mms horizontal increase are achievable with a sliding genioplasty. The only caveat is that such a chin advancement will make it more narrow in the frontal view.

Thanks for writing,The best thing you can do is get a specific type of facial x-ray called a cephalometric x-ray. This film give a perfect 1:1 visualization of your facial bones. A sliding genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay. It is usually performed when the teeth are significantly out of alignment. Make an appointment with an oral surgeon if that's the route you decide to go. Placement of a chin implant can augment the chin forward in addition to giving small amount of vertical height and lateral width. Chin implants are manufactured in a large array of sizes and shapes which is best determined at the time of the consultation and examination.
