I’m a 20 year old African American female. My bikini area has dark spots from previous years (when I would shave) and my inner thighs are also pretty dark. I have been waxing my bikini area for over a year (occasionally I do end up shaving again). I would like to find a way to even my skin tone in that area. I also get ingrown hairs often, it seems like no matter how much I physically exfoliate my bikini area it continues to get ingrown hairs. It is very embarrassing

Answer: A combination of melapeel and Clear&Brilliant laser can help reduce appearance of dark spots and lighten. Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Laser hair removal and hydroquinone Hello, waxing causes injury to the skin and can cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Ingrown hairs will also cause this. The best way to treat this is to first permanently remove the hair with laser hair removal. You can then use a topical product with hydroquinone to lighten the pigmentation. Good luck!
