Do I need to stop my Omega3's, aspirin, and Vitamin E supplements prior to peel? Thank you.

Question

Having a VI Peel for the first time. Understand need to stop RetinA, scrubs, etc. about a week prior to peel. Will also begin Valtrex the day before, day of, and day after procedure. The peel is schedule for Wednesday, 1-15-2020, so cutting it close. Should have asked the following questions earlier, but if someone could reply, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,You do not need to discontinue oral medications prior to your VI peel. The exception to this would be Accutane, it is very important to discuss with your provider if you have been on this for acne in the past 6 months as it can negatively impact your results.  It is more common to need to stop topical medications such as retinol/retin-A, acid toners, and many acne products a few days prior to the procedure. Protocols differ between offices, but VI peels come with an at-home kit that will help you take care of your skin after the procedure. Hello and thank you for your question. You do not need to stop oral supplements prior to a VI peel. 
Adequate priming of the skin for at least 2-4 weeks prior to peel is recommended and discontinuing 1 week before the procedure. Priming is done by application of depigmenting agents such as hydroquinone or retinoic acid and use of sunscreens.
One week prior to peel do discontinue any topical prescriptions or any products containing Retinol or Vitamin A. Ten to fourteen days prior avoid waxing, electrolysis, hair removal creams, laser hair removal, sun  exposure (and tanning beds) Do not receive Botox or dermal dillers prior to a peel appointment. Thank you for your message! You are correct that you should stop your topical products prior to the VI peel. It is not necessary to stop  any oral supplements though as there is no penetration of the skin with a needle! If you have further questions, I would recommend reaching out to your provider as protocols may differ office to office!

No oral suppliments  need to be stopped prior to VI Peel. We do not break the skin with a peel and suppliments are ususally stopped before injectables to prevent/lessen bruising.
