I have posted previously. I have seen 3 derms, 1 endocrinologist and a dozen of other people about my hair. Most dismiss me and say Telogen effluvium. All blood work normal- thyroid, iron, hormones, ANA, Vitamin D, B etc. testosterone was high normal at 45. I was on a high androgen birth control pill (Levlen) and stopped in Oct 2017. My hair is still falling out and it’s August 2018. I haven’t found a Derm in area who will use a Dermoscope. Miniaturization looks present.
Answer: Female has questions about her hair loss...who can help her? ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA Dear Mckenna2010, Thank you for posting this question. I had a look at your photographs and it doesn’t appear that you’re having significant hair loss on the photos. I also had a look at the dermatoscope picture, and that’s perfectly normal. It is normal to have up to 15% of hairs in any given view on the scalp be in a miniaturized state, due to the normal cycling of hairs. I don’t see an alopecia level of miniaturization in that view. So, from here it doesn’t appear that you’re experiencing hair loss. However, nobody would know better than you. If your ponytail is getting smaller over time, that’s usually a positive indication that you’re having hair loss. I’d check with an organization called the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons and see if there’s someone in that group that is nearer to you. I hope this information is helpful to you. Kind Regards, Ken Anderson, MD, FISHRS

Answer: Understanding Hair loss and hair loss treatment options: hair transplant, prp and progesterone This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: FPhL vs TE? Your magnified images are not ideal for proper evaluation but would suggest some degree of anisotrichosis (variation in caliber). Please see a dermatologist. A careful examination of the scalp, including use of trichoscopy, along with full review of your medical details, history and blood tests is needed. Features of a patterned loss are possibly present here but this requires proper evaluation.

Answer: PRP can be the right treatment for you Hello. I understand how stressful it is to be loosing hair. What I can think about with none to very little side effects is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). This procedure consists on getting some of your blood and putting it in a machine that will separate the different ingredients that are in the blood. From those ingredients we take the growth factors and inject them in your scalp. These growth factors will start working in your follicles enhancing your hair and reducing the rate of your hair loss and stopping the miniaturization. If your follicles have not been dormant for too long the hair can regrow. We recommend our patients to do the PRP therapy at least once a year to let it continue its restorative effects As any other non-surgical treatments, it is to be continued for life in order to keep having a positive effect on your hair. There are additions they can do to your PRP treatment like Acell. There are many different treatments that can help you achieve your goals. PRP is only a very good one.Best of lucks.

Answer: AGA vs TE The actual density of your hair from the top view is not evident of much thinning so maybe you have TE rather than AGA; however as you are seeing Dermatologists, I would follow what they tell you
