I had the chicken pox when I was about 7 years old and I am now 22. I was left with a scar on my nose that is very noticeable and bothersome, and another one on my cheek. My main concern is the one on my nose because I feel it draws the most attention and it has made me self-conscious. Is there a way to remove it?

Answer: Scar treatment Dear gmayra1918,based on your description, it would be best that you visit your plastic surgeon for an in person examination. This way, your surgeon can assess your scars properly and determine the best course of action to address and resolve your concerns. You might consider a combination of subcision and dermal fillers or fat transfer. Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Scar on nose It can be surgically excised; however, the results can be difficult to predict due to the nature of the nose being so difficult to heal post surgical excisions. There are other minimally invasive options that can be considered (microneedling, punch excisions, HA fillers, laser resurfacing, etc), that are worth reviewing. Seek the expertise of a board certified dermatologist for consideration of your best options.
