Hyaluronic acid: How long does this last? The cost?

Question

Looking for a licensed professional in Phoenix AZ who is experienced with hyaluronic acid injections. Is Botox a better option? I am looking to get my lips plumped and would like to have my brows lifted. I hear Botox only last a few months but have read this stuff lasts longer! Any advice would be appreciated.

Botox results resolve in 3-4 months and can be used to improve static wrinkles or lift the brow. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a full and symmetrical lip. Results last 6-12 months. Nova threads can be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert to go over your desired results. Best, Dr. Emer

Hyaluronic acid based fillers such as Restylane Silk, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm Volbella, and Juvederm Ultra are most commonly used for adding volume and improving definition of the lips. The results are immediate and typically last 6-9 months. Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport are the most commonly used injectable to raise the eyebrows and treat dynamic lines on the upper face (i.e. frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines). Fillers can be used to add volume to the eyebrows and raise them in the appropriate patient. Botox/Dysport can be used around the mouth to treat vertical lip lines and to evert the lip.

In my experience I have found that hylauronic based dermal fillers can last up 9-12 months in the lips, but it is always an individual experience and some patients naturally absorb their filler products in a shorter time.   Fillers can also be used effectively around the eye area and Botox is a very effective method of treating the upper third of the face and the results can also last for several months. The combination of fillers and Botox can produce an excellent 'refreshed' look for most patients.

Hi miss88x,You are right that Botox lasts only between 3-6 months but did you know that over time, the interval between shots gets longer? Some hyaluronic acid fillers like Voluma and REstylane Lyft last longer and newer technologies used by the Restylane family (XpresHAN technology ) and Juvederm family (Vycross technology) are more flexible, last longer and replace volume without robbing you of expressions.For brow lift, you can have Botox but your can also have filler injections over the temple area which could provide some lift. For the lips, you can use a combination of dense and "light" fillers like Volbella, Silk or Refyne.Botox and fillers have complementary actions and quite perfect for refreshing and erasing years.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
