What damage is caused by dentist sanding veneers?

A well crafted porcelain veneer, created by talented lab technicians, are layered with different colors of porcelain.  Some labs will save time and money by staining the porcelain to give it character, but this usually does not last, as time goes by the stain can come off.  It is possible that your dentist used a lab that stained the porcelain, and by polishing the stain off the veneers appeared a little whiter.  "Slight" is the best one could hope for, significant change is impossible.However, polishing porcelain after this treatment usually is not as smooth as they were when the lab created them, and likely never will again.  It is very difficult to polish in the mouth.  It is less significant when only a spot or two are polished, but when entire surfaces get "sanded" then the challenges are greater.  Also, the surface texture/anatomy is usually removed, leaving a very smooth surface, which is unlike real teeth that have "ripples" and variation in texture.

if u r not happy with yr current veneers. u have to go for new veneers. u can not do anything with shape or shade. change is not possible.
