Hello Emily,Do not attempt to use any type of household glue to reattach your crown. Schedule an appointment at your dental office to have your crown recemented as soon as possible. In the mean time, you can purchase temporary dental adhesive/cement from a drugstore to hold it in place. Factors that may have caused your crown to come off include: the tooth under your crown fractured, the adhesive failed, there may be underlying decay. Delaying seeing your dentist may cause additional problems. Good luck and I hope this helps. Follow me if you have more questions.Sarah Thompson, DMDSt. Louis, MO area (O'Fallon, IL)Real Self 100
Hi from Baytown, Texas! PLEASE do not use superglue ever to fix a tooth! If you can not see your dentist to fix a cap or a crown that fell off, go to any drug store or grocery store and look for denture adhesive . Make sure the tooth is clean and free of debris such as food particles before you put on the crown. Try it on first and make sure it fits. Take it out and apply the denture adhesive and place it . This is not a permanent fix for the crown and does not anchor the restoration tight enough. It will last until you have a chance to have the crown cemented properly with permanent cement by your dentist.
If the crown came off and the tooth is intact, you can use a number of over the counter options to temporarily fix the tooth until you can get into your dentist to have it permanently cemented.-White tooth paste (the gel stuff just doesn't stick as well)-Temporary dental cement (you can find this in any pharmacy near the other dental products)-Fixadent or polygrip (buy the gel not the powder)
visit dentist as soon as possible to cement that cap . do not use any type of glue, otherwise u will worsen the condition.
Hello there,Sorry to hear about your anterior crown coming out.Super Glue is not a good choice because it’s permanent. Should you glue it on and the positioning is even slightly off, you can damage your tooth, cause bite problems, jaw pain and more, plus the tooth is more susceptible to decay. At this point, you don’t know why the crown came off. It could be simply that the cement didn’t hold, but there’s also a chance that there’s decay. Your best option will be to see your dentist immediately to have your tooth evaluated and properly cemented back if possible. A temporary fix would be to go to your local pharmacy and pick up temporary cement to recement crown until you are able to see a dentist. Hope this helps and good luck!
Absolutely not! Using superglue can kill or damage the nerve of the tooth. Temporary cement or using fixodent or polygripe on a temporary basis is ok until you get to a dentist to recement the tooth with appropriate glue.
While I have people come in that HAVE used super glue, it has NEVER been a good idea. In the meantime, denture adhesive from the drug store can work. Some drug stores even sell temporary cement for this exact reason, and it is VERY similar to what WE use. The directions on the box are very easy.See your dentist ASAP.
