Why am I having so many complications after Botox in masseter muscles for TMJ?

Injections to slim the jawline with Botox only diminish your ability to close your jaw and these effects have little to do with TMJ or the ability to speak. The most common muscle that causes TMJ problems is the lateral pterygoid and this muscle cannot be treated with Botox. It is the only muscle that opens the jaw. I think that you current problems are not related to your recent Botox injections. You should make an appointment with a TMJ specialist. Good luck

It sounds like your issues are related to injection technique/placement.  I would just make sure you are seeing a facial plastic surgeon who extensively understands the anatomy and has experience with these injections.

This is not typical after Botox treatment to masseters. I recommend that you followup with your injector to discuss your concerns. It is certainly possible that too much Botox was used or it was incorrectly placed. 

I am sorry for your trouble with the Botox.  I would suggest you return to your treating physician for examination since it sounds as if too much Botox or the placement may have been a problem. Please consult a expert in Botox and TMJ and facial slimming for the best results.  Best, Dr. Green
