Lump exists on my lower columella 17 days post op (Photo)

Question

I just want to ask about this bump/lump exist in the middle lower of my nostrils. I just got a Goretex & cartilage tip rhinoplasty. everything's fine I'm on my 17th day post op rhinoplasty except this one. i try to press little bit using q-tip and there was no pain. I think this is not sutures lump.

Hang in there! As long as the shape and swelling are improving week to week, however slowly, there is still hope for the final outcome. Ask you plastic surgeon if there would be any benefit to taping or a steroid injection that can help speed your recovery. It takes over a year to realize the final results of rhinoplasty. Think of it this way, one millimeter of swelling would not even be noticeable in a breast augmentation. One millimeter may be the whole difference between success and failure in a rhinoplasty. It will take well over a year before that last millimeter of swelling has gone away and right now there is even more swelling as it is still very early.

Thank you very much for enquire.It's too early to make value judgments with only 17 days after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Relay your concerns to your surgeon, as the most feared complication of adding nasal implants is infection or extrusion.  He or she will examine you and may start you on antibiotics if it is appropriate.  Best wishes!

If your surgeon utilized an incision on the columella, then it is normal at this stage to have some redness and induration (swelling) to that area. I'm not sure Gortex would be placed in that area, so I would not expect graft extrusion. If it doesn't hurt and there is no drainage, then this probably doesn't represent an early infection. You are still quite early in the healing process. This area almost always heals well. Be sure to maintain regular follow-up with your surgeon. Good luck!
