Would Botox fix this dent? What might cause this to appear? (Photos)

Question

Will botox fix this verticle dent that showed up on my forehead? I became really aware of it 9/25/25 however going back through pictures, I see it a year or so back it just was not as prominent. I feel like it’s getting worse. I am really concerned and googling it doesn’t show good things. What should i do? What can cause this? could a verticle dent just sinply be from aging? Please help!

Botox probably will not help that because that's not from a muscle movement. It is either something in your skin or it is in your skeleton. I susepct it is the skeleton by what you described, in which case as you age, you do lose natural fat we have around that area, revealing discrepancies in our skeleton that we never saw before. If that is the case (and a good aesthetic provider should be able to tell you), rthen you could experiment with cautious filling of this area. If it's a skin thing, then doing skin resurfacing can be helpful to add strength back into the skin .

I completely understand your concern—seeing a new line or dent develop on the forehead can be worrisome, especially when it becomes more noticeable over time. A vertical dent in the forehead can develop for a few different reasons, and most are benign.

Common causes include:
Muscle overactivity or tension from repeated facial expressions, especially in the frontalis or corrugator muscles.

Volume loss over time due to natural aging, thinning of the fat or soft tissue layer beneath the skin.

Prior injury, filler, or inflammation in the area, which can lead to subtle tissue changes or asymmetry.

If the indentation becomes more visible with certain facial expressions, Botox may help by relaxing the underlying muscle and preventing further deepening. However, if the dent is present even when your face is at rest, a filler or collagen-stimulating treatment might be more effective for restoring smoothness and contour.

It’s very unlikely to represent anything dangerous, and gradual changes like this can indeed occur with normal aging or facial movement patterns. The good news is that it’s usually something that can be improved safely with minor aesthetic treatments.

In order to answer your question, you need to be evaluated in person to see if this is something that’s present at all times or only when you are Frowning. In addition, you can always try a small amount of Botox and see if you benefit from it. If no changes seen, I would recommend perhaps injecting a small amount of fat into the area as that should provide you with natural and practically permanent results. I hope this helps soon.
