I had 36 units of Botox in my forehead area and between brows 7 days ago. I see no difference. What should i do?

I followed every order the doctor said. Asked questions on what I should do and not do. I'm on diet pills, work out, tan, he told me I can do this all. I went work shortly after the procedure and worked. I had a hat on. Not tight, went later on that night to gym, tanned. Saw a difference in a few days than it went away. No freeze feeling. No lines lighter, no difference. I did feel it at first than it went away. Did something happen? He told me he was using something different, was it fake?

Botox injections will take up to two weeks to become fully apparent. As you are
only a week out from your treatment, it is too early to assess the benefits of
the injections. I recommend being patient while you wait for the targeted
muscles to slowly relax. If you have any further concerns, I suggest that you
reach out to your Botox provider.

after 7 days you might not have complete correctness but there should be some change that is noticeable.  You did not do anything wrong and the first thing you should do is ask what he meant by something different.  Be sure you are seeing a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon

Hello mph91182,Thank you for sharing your question and concerns with us. Without before or after photos at best we can give you general information to alleviate your concerns. I generally will want to see the individual two weeks after Botox injections especially if it is their first time. If any touch up is needed it can be quickly and easily done. Give it another week and see your injector for a full evaluation.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. By 7 days, you should start to see some affect. I would discuss it with your injector, see what type of product was injected and see if you can get a touch up. If you did have Botox, you may want to try its counterpart Dysport. Good luck!

Thank you for your question.  Generally, botox takes about 2 weeks to see your final result.  You may need to get a touch up.  It is difficult to determine without any photos.

Thank you for your question.  Generally speaking, it can take up to 14 days to see the final results of a Botox treatment.  While I would usually expect for you to be seeing some results at 7 days out, I think it's still too early to say that your treatment did not work.  Do you recall which product your doctor used if it was not actual Botox?  There are two other FDA-approved neuromodulators in the US, Dysport and Xeomin, which work very similarly to Botox, and will also require 14 days to see final results.  If you still aren't seeing results in 1-2 weeks, please follow-up with your doctor to discuss your concerns, as you may need a higher dose for an effective treatment.Also, I would strongly recommend that you stop tanning.  Every time you tan, you are exposing your skin to harmful UV radiation, which dramatically increases your risk of skin cancer.  Tanning also accelerates the aging of your skin, leading to collagen breakdown, deeper lines, and skin discoloration.

Thanks for the question. It's hard to give you a complete answer without seeing a before and after photo. 36 units is a complete dose for frown and forehead lines in most patients. It can take Botox up to 2 weeks to take full effect. I would wait a few more days and if you are still not satisfied with your results, I would followup with your injector to discuss your concerns. You mention your doctor used "something different" but this should not cause you concern if your doctor is trustworthy. Your injector may have used Dysport or Xeomin instead of Botox. Both Dysport and Xeomin are FDA approved neurotoxins similar to Botox and available in the United States for use. All 3 work similarly as wrinkle relaxers.

It takes about 2 weeks for botox to reach it's maximal effect.. At that time if you do not see and effect it may be that you need a higher dose or different placement of the product.  May sure to follow up with your injectior so that adjustments can be make.

Thank you for your question.  Botox can take up to two weeks to see an effect, if at that point in time you still do not see an effect please follow up with your board certified Dermatoogist/PS who injected you and discuss your concerns with them.  Do NOT Tan, it will only lead to more photo damage and risk for skin cancer leading you to likely require more aesthetic interventions in the future as well as possible surgery for skin cancer.  Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
