Lipo 360 - is it safe after a liver transplant?

Hey I've I've had a liver transplant in 2012. I want to get lipo 360 but I want to know is it safe. I weigh 220 and I'm 5"6. I'm on immunosuppressant envarsus, Prednisone and azathioprine. I'm on saxenda injections for weight loss. I just want my fat gone

In order for your surgery to be done safely, a number of factors would have to align. Your surgeon should request clearance from your Hepatology doctors and/or Liver Transplant doctors before undergoing an elective surgery. Body contouring surgeries are usually longer cases (2+ hours), and your liver function is imperative for the proper clearance of anesthesia medications and other medications that you would be given in the perioperative period. A body contouring surgery alone could place more stress on your body and your liver; and as much as we like operating, having a well-functioning liver far outweighs aesthetic results.
Assuming that you were cleared by your hepatologist and transplant surgeons, another factor would be the management of your current medications. Prednisone, Tacrolimus, and Azathioprine can all inhibit wound healing. Granted the incisions for liposuction are very small, but it’s a factor to consider nonetheless.
From a surgical standpoint, the surgeon has to consider other risks related to your previous surgery. Most liver transplants are performed through a larger subcostal incision under the ribs or through a midline abdominal incision. Regardless of which incision was used, that previous incision caused scar tissue to form between the skin, the fat, and the underlying musculature. Doing liposuction through scar tissue can be very risky, because it distorts the tissue in irregular ways. A patient who has had previous abdominal surgery, especially with a large incision, is at a higher risk of injury to surrounding tissue, such as the organs within the abdominal cavity.
Liraglutide (Saxenda) works well for a lot of patients who are seeking help in weight management. Using this type of medication is certainly going to be a safer way to go about losing weight in your case.
