When I went for a consultation the person I met with, who would be performing the laser treatment, was an LPN. I have some medical issues and think I would feel more comfortable with an M.D. Is that typical? Thanks.
Answer: Do Physicians Typically Administer Fraxel Laser Treatments?
Hi,
Medical lasers are powerful tools capable of creating excellent results, but unfortunately also with the potential of complications. I personally administer all of my laser treatments to my patients. Unfortunately, "laws" don't insure patient safety, well trained and responsible physicians do! Good luck and be well.

It depends on the state you reside in. In Florida, it is a Board of Medicine rule that ALL laser treatments be preformed by a licensed medical doctor - ONLY! Recent med/mal suit of an licensed Florida internist allowing a non licensed foreign doctor preform, in the office, laser hair removal of a patient's axillae causing second/third degree burns. Guess you can figure out what the board is going to do - REVOKE the license!

Answer: Fraxel
Many offices have physician assistants (PAs) or nurses do the treatment while others have the doctors do it. It depends on the laws of the state in which the practice peforms the treatment.

Answer: Fraxel
This would be based on the individual practice and who they allow to use the lasers. Some practices feel that an RN is good enough to perform with this laser. It is all a matter of comfort ability for the patient. We personally do not have our RN’s use the lasers. In New Jersey, only Doctors are authorized to utilize lasers.
