How Many People Actually Die a Year from IV Sedation?

I would like to get some procedures done but everyone I talk to is afraid of being 'put under' although no one knows of anyone actually never waking up/dying. Does this really happen? Is it a common occurance or extremely rare? Seems like a lot of people get a lot of procedures all over the world. Thank you.

Deaths from anesthesia do occur, but they are very rare. IV sedation is just one type of anesthesia, also known as conscious sedation, because the patient is breathing without assistance, but sedated. Deaths from IV sedation would be even more rare than those from a general anesthesia.

It is rare that a fatality occurs from IV sedation. Most cosmetic procedures really rely on the local anesthesia that is injected while the patient is asleep under the effects of the initial flow of medications. If your fear of sedation is greater than your fear of pain, the procedure can be done just with local.
