Hi, thank you for the question and please do not worry about your anemia, unless it is severe . Of course you have to share with the MD performing the procedure. Always share with your doctor your medical conditions and medications taken. The amount of blood lost during microneedeling is minimal and insignificant. Avoid Motrin and aspirin prior to the procedure to avoid minimal bruises and minimize even further the bleeding associated with the procedure. Good luck !
Hi, thanks for reaching out.Unless anemia is severe, microneedling is not going to be a problem,Blood loss is minimal and will not change your counts at all.Make sure that your platelet counts are OK because if not, it may result in more bleeding. If you combining microneedling with PRP (which is commonly done), you looking at having about 30cc of your blood drawn.Although it is more blood then you would loose with just microneedling alone, ti is still pretty insignificant amount.
Microneedling is a technique that uses very fine disposable needles that create micro channels into the skin stimulating production of a high quality collagen. In my practice I use the patient's own plasma which entails drawing a blood sample. In your case if your anemia is mild and you are on iron replacement you could definitely be safe. Just check with your doctor first. Also if you are not a candidate for using your own plasma, microneedling can still be done and it is very safe. The studies done showed better results when PRP are used, but you will have good results as well. Perhaps you might need an extra session.
Hi jillfingerhood,The blood loss from PRP or regular microneedling is minimal. It won't worsen your anemia. However, I hope that the cause of your anemia is established. Blood dyscrasias/bleeding tendencies should be ruled out.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
