Thank you for your question. Self adhering foam is Reston Foam and is a product made by 3M. Lipofoam is not self adherent. They serve the same purpose but are different products. I suggest you call your plastic surgeon and ask her/him what they would like you to use. I suggest making sure whatever you use is approved by your plastic surgeon first as you want to make sure your recovery is as safe and healthy as possible. Good luck! Best wishes, Dr. Suzette Miranda
Good afternoon, thanks for your question, of course, you can add compression under your garment as much as you feel comfortable, remember to ask your surgeon always, but to get rid of liquid an swollen body, it is better to apply compression under the garment.
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and thank you for sharing your question. Final results can take 6-12 months for all the swelling to subside. At our office here at CARE we actually see all of our surgery patients the very next day after surgery and then again at two weeks and beyond. We enjoy staying closely connected to our patients and enjoy giving the extra attention and service. Your concerns are important to discuss directly with your board certified plastic surgeon. He or she will appreciate the open communication and will want to help you. I hope this is helpful and wish you all the very best. Sincerely, Brian S. Coan, MD, FACS
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Reston foam and lipo foam are similar, but not identical. Reston foam as an adhesive side that I have found to irritate skin, whereas lipo foam does not. It is also easier to clean lipo foam. Ultimately, you should ask your surgeon if the product that you are using is OK. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. Any treatment plan should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation in person with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
