Had a wonderful tummy tuck with liposuction (flanks) about 5 years ago, but unsightly fat settled on my hips and upper backside, ruining my shape. I eat great and exercise 4-5x times a week and my weight is stable at 135 lbs. for the last 5 years. Can anything be done to improve the contour of my hips, thighs, and butt? I’m not overweight or a candidate for Wegovy, and I feel like my fat is in all the wrong places!

Answer: Improving contour of hips Hello and thank you for your question. The photos show some excess subcutaneous fat on the hip prominences as well as volume deflation on the "hip dips". In my opinion, liposuction on the hips and fat grafting/transfer to the hip dip areas would improve your shape and contour. An in-person consult with a board certified plastic surgery would be able to confirm the findings/plan. Good luck on your journey!

Answer: Liposuction for the recontouring of the flanks! Looking at your photos, there are more positives than concerns. Your abdomen has excellent skin tone and shape, and you are in no way overweight. Diet pills are not a solution for you. What has happened is that more fat cells were left behind in the flank areas than ideal. This is not an uncommon occurrence, but it has an easy fix. You would benefit from localized contouring of the two bulge areas with liposuction, using a small cannula to avoid contour irregularity. This should not be overdone, as to avoid developing lax skin where the bulges are by deflating them too much. Because skin is not removed from the flanks during the tummy tuck surgery, the flanks have a propensity for developing lax skin. Therefore, only contouring to the degree needed is best, and that avoids deflating the flank skin. If you notice that the lower stomach can occasionally get fuller than you like it, then you could have some contouring there as well. In your case, I would say less is more. Dr. B.
