neck and lower face liposuction is a very commonly performed procedure which can cause facial nerve damage. a branch of facial nerve that supplies the lower third of the face runs very superficial on the lower jaw (in most people) and is likely to get injured/bruised/inflammed during the procedure. most facial nerve injuries are temporary. however, the recovery can take upto 1 yr. close follow up with your surgeon is highly recommended
A portion of your facial nerve may be bruised. This may take several months to improve. Extremely close follow up with your PS is advised Dr ES
I have seen this condition after liposuction, it is usually due to a bruising of the nerve that can occur after the procedure. This condition should resolve within 6-12 weeks, please follow up with your surgeon and express your concerns.
Liposuction of the face and neck can "tweak" the facial nerves. Often this gets better within 6-12 weeks but can take up to a year. Follow closely with your surgeon. Good luck.
