I’m having a BBL next month my doctor told me that I’ll be wearing a faja 24/7 for one month, after that only at night.I’m kind of confused since I’ve read on the internet it should be worn 24/7 for at least 3-4 months to get a great result. How much of this is true and does the time you wear a faja ”make or brake” the end result? How much does the time you wear a faja actully ”mold” your body or is the only possible molding done on the surgery table?
Answer: Does a faja need to be worn 3-4 months, or just 1 month like my doctor told me? How much does it actually mold your body? Thanks for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. It's best to follow your surgeons specific advice post-operatively. I have my liposuction patients wear a compression garment (faja) covering all treated 24/7 except to shower for 4 weeks post op. This helps ontrol swelling as the compression on your tissues helps your body to reabsorb the edema fluid that accumulates in the tissues after any procedure. This can take quite some time to happen without help from the compression garments. It also helps improve contour. Compression helps to keep the tissues adherent to the underlying structures while healing, this can help prevent the wrinkled skin appearance that can happen when the tissues heal in ways we don't want them to.

Answer: Compression garment Thank you for your question! For my patients having a BBL, I recommend they wear the compression garment that we provide for the first 3 weeks post op, 24/7, then an additional 3 weeks at night only. After the first 6 weeks, there are no garment restrictions. The compression garments are designed to help decrease swelling and keep the liposuctioned areas smooth. I recommend discussing specific post op instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: Does a faja need to be worn 3-4 months, or just 1 month like my doctor told me? How much does it actually mold your body? The compression garment and the length of time to wear vary with the PS. Follow up with your PS to address your concerns. I typically ask patients to wear adjustable garments with multiple bands so that tension can be adjusted and the areas of liposuction are less likely to get a fluid collection for a period of six weeks. The garments typically do not cover the buttocks. The key here is the size and the ability to tighten the garment, not the brand or make. In my practice, the compression garments are provided as part of the BBL post op package. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear jeanparis, compression garments are used to reduce swelling and promote healing after BBL surgery. I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Does a faja need to be worn 3-4 months, or just 1 month like my doctor told me? How much does it actually mold your body? Regarding wearing a faja it depends on your doctor recommendations, these can go from not wearing a faja at all, to wearing it for 6 months, there is just no right or wrong on how much you must wear your faja. A faja can help with inflammation, reduce possibility of seroma, liquid formation, and mold your body but in the end although a faja help you for a better recovery, final outcome will not be hugely changed if you wear it or not.
