Seeking surgical/ manual extraction of HA filler

Question

After an unsuccessful dose of hyal to remove old VERSA in the malar region I am seeking manual extraction. I am curious as to whether a lower bleph would take care of this issue if no one is willing to manually extract the filler.I am unwilling to do another round of HYAL as it has some very dangerous side effects. Thank you

Thank you for your question regarding HA removal from the malar region. There are two ways to approach this area; one can be through a lower blepharoplasty incision the other can be an inter-oral approach. Any combination of these procedures can also be performed. It depends on where the product is and how much you have. First, I would suggest an MRI to localize the area and seek a board-certified surgeon who has previously removed silicone from this area. If you are at least a year out and still have filler in the malar area (or scar tissue), this can be manually extracted though a lower lid incision.
