Does Accutane work for blackheads? (photo)

Question

I have blackheads all around my face and I take them out and they still manage to come Back again... I know Accutane works for acne but does it also work for blackheads?

​Acne requires a combination approach to get long-term improvement. I recommend a combination of Cosmelan, salt facials, peels, lasers, microneedling with PRP, blue light, radiofrequency and isotretinoin. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer​

Thanks for your question and helpful photos.  Yes, accutane and its generic forms will work very well for the type of acne you are experiencing.  Please see your dermatologist and they will register you with the national registry "Ipledge" and get you started. You will want to talk to your physician about what skin care, moisturizers, and sunscreen you will need to use during the accutane course, so be sure to be prepared for some dryness and sun sensitivity. Accutane would heal all of the comedones and papules that you are experiencing, as well as your blackheads. Accutane is a great treatment for this type of chronic acne that does't want to go away. Please read my link about Accutane to help you. Best, Dr. Green

Yes it does with cystic acne and both whiteheads and blackheads.
