Are fat reduction procedures a possibility for patients with a jpouch?

That’s a really thoughtful and important question. Having a J-pouch does not automatically prevent you from undergoing fat reduction procedures, but it does mean that we have to be extra cautious. The type of procedure (whether non-invasive like CoolSculpting or minimally invasive/surgical options like liposuction) and your overall health, surgical history, and healing capacity all play a role in what’s safe for you.

In most cases, non-invasive treatments are safer since they don’t involve incisions or anesthesia that might affect your abdominal area. Surgical procedures, however, require a more individualized assessment, ideally in collaboration with both your gastroenterologist and surgeon, to ensure there’s no increased risk of complications.
