Can I use hydroquinone and retin-a after dermapen treatment?

DermaPen is a mechanical device where microneedles penetrate the skin at controlled depths.  The treatment can be aggressive and require wound healing to occur.  Post treatment for DermaPen is similar to that for ablative lasers:  moist wound care until reepithelization has occurred, careful avoidance of UV light exposure, and avoidance of caustic skin medications such as Retin-A or hydroquinone which can irritate the skin.  

Yes I have my patients restart their topical creams 3 days after microneedling.  But you should speak to your physician for advice following treatment.  Best, Dr. Emer.
