The concept of dermarolling and microneedling are to penetrate the skin in a type of air rating method so we can infuse different types of serums or plasma. Dermarolling requires the aesthetican to apply an even amount of pressure with a steady hand. Since Microneedling uses the dermapen the pen keeps a constant depth. Dermarolling if there is too much pressure applied can cause more scarring. We have been seeing terrific results with our Microneedling for acne scarring, especially when treating with PRP. There are many good scientific studies showing that
medical micro-needling works well for acne scarring, however, I am not a fan of rollers as they
create a more erratic pattern of "tears" through the skin rather than
the clean, more evenly distributed punctures seen with the motorized
micro-needling machines. In my office we have found the ProCell Therapies micro-needling machine to be the best of the motorized machines. We are also using the ProCell Therapies system which combines motorized micro-needling with human growth factor serum made from human stem cells to give the best results.
