My Mom had veneers done years ago and they never looked natural. They actually are too long for her mouth. Is there anything that can be done to shorten the veneers without having to redo them?

Xrays and a careful exam should be done to determine where the actual tooth edge is in relation to the "long" veneers.  Once established a dentist can very carefully reduce the porcelain and then polish it.  Be sure to seek an experienced cosmetic dentist.

Veneers can easily be shortened or reshaped without redoing them. It is important to do this very cautiously so that you don't make them too short as length can't be added.

Yes, a dentist can carefully shorten them by grinding off then polishing some of the porcelain. It is possible that the porcelain could become weakened if it gets too thin, so the dentist can go more conservative to start with and take an xray to help determine where the oroginal tooth edge is.
