I developed redness and pain on my scalp after a number of weeks of hair loss. I just saw a dermatologist (pwho wants to take a biopsy. She did say she did not see any scaling which i understand is a sign of lichen planus pilarus. She also wants to check for lupus. Is biopsy necessary? Is this the only way to diagnose these conditions.
