Is Yag laser effective for tiny red veins all over nose? (Photo)

Question

I am a 39 year old white male with red hair and fair skin. I have many tiny red veins v that you can see on close inspection all over my nose. These make it look like I have a red nose all the time, though sometimes it's not as enflamed. I had thermocoagulation done which yielded no results. I am wondering if a Yag treatment will be effective at getting rid of them or if vbeam would be more suitable. A derm told me 1 vbeam would likely do it but I am seeking a 2nd opinion.

I have been performing radio wave diathermy for over thirty years for treating telangiectasias ("broken blood vessels") of the face and nose. Unlike so many of the expensive, light and energy-based gizmos out there, diathermy has a long track record for both safety and efficacy. The new devices are backed far more by heavy marketing hype and social media buzz than any hard science. Make sure to consult an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. And, one more piece of advice. Don't go into any consultation asking for any particular gizmo treatment, since, to your later disappointment and frustration, and financial loss, you may just get what you ask for. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question! At our practice we use Excel V+ in regard to facial telangiectasia. This laser is effective for treating red facial veins with diffuse redness. A few treatments may be necessary for removal at 8–12 week intervals.
