Hello,I currently derma roll every 3-4 weeks with a .50 roller. I would also like to use a home microdermabrasion kit that I purchased but am not sure when to use it to be most beneficial? Should I do them both at the same time or derma roll and then wait a week or two before using the microdermabrasion? I am in my early 40's and I am very fair skinned. Don't know if that makes a difference. Thank you for your time. :)
Answer: DIY skin resurfacing can be risky. Despite the increasing popularity of at-home kits for microdermabrasion and microneedling, there's always a risk that you could damage your skin through incorrect applications. These treatments are frequently combined in med spa settings, but at home you should alternate them to ensure you're not overdoing. If you have any questions about how to see the best outcome, don't hesitate to consult an aesthetician or cosmetic surgeon.

Answer: Safe to do both, just not at the same time It is okay to do these two procedures together, just don't do them on the same day; this may result in too much abrasion of the skin and might make your skin very irritated and red. At home Microderm kits tend to be more gentle than in office machines and are usually safe enough for you to be doing once weekly for great mechanical exfoliation of the epidermal cells. I would alternate this and derma rolling weekly. Switch them off every other week. Exfoliate with the Microderm one week then derma roll the next. This is the safest way to make sure you're not harming your skin.

Answer: Combining micro-needling with micro-dermabrasion These two treatments, micro-needling and micro-dermabrasion are now combined so they are being done at the same time for even greater penetration of topical serums and medication. For the best results, micro-needling and micro-dermabrasion should also be combined with the application of an effective topical medication. Micro-channels in the skin are created which enhance penetration of topical serums and medications, dramatically increasing their effectiveness. Up to 80% of product can penetrate the skin compared to 7 to 10% with normal topical application. In my office, we use the ProCell Therapies system which combines motorized micro-needling with micro-dermabrasion and also uses concentrated human growth factor serums made from human stem cells. Our patients also use growth factor serum at home after the office treatment.
