6 months post-op, what can I do about painful raised red scarring? (Photos)

I’m 6 months out and my scars are very red and raised. They started to look worse as opposed to better around 3 months. I don’t have itching but experience sharp short pain in them sometimes. I’ve spoke only to the nurse at my surgeons office and was recommended MEPITAC tape, should I be doing anything else are these keloid or going to get worse?

Thank you for your question and for your photos. Based on your photos provided, delayed healing and open sores after breast reduction is common. They usually get bigger before they start to fully heal.

Seromas and swelling can be different things. You can drain a seroma and still have surrounding swelling. It can take a few weeks and a couple of aspirations for a seroma to resolve.
