Halo versus BBL with SkinTyte for fine lines, skin tone, texture, and pore size. (Photos)

Question

I am a 38 year-old looking to rejuvenate my skin. Issues I would like to address are uneven skin tone & texture, fine lines, pore size, & dark circles. One place suggested a BBL series with skintyte. Another place suggested Halo. I am curious what your recommendations would be for the best results? Are results noticable after one treatment with Halo? (Could only do 1 within budget) Also read skintyte is for skin laxity and wondering if it works on fine lines & texture/pores. Thanks so much!!

Thank you for your question and posting your pictures.  Based on your area of concern and after reviewing your photographs, you appear to be a great candidate for the Halo laser treatment.  The areas of concern you are describing (skin tone, uneven texture, fine lines, and pore size) are what the Halo treats best.  The Halo laser is an innovative technology that uses combination of both an ablative and non-ablative laser platforms.  The non-ablative portion helps to improve fine lines and firm skin tone and texture.  The ablative portion enhances the improvement of the skin texture and helps with pore size as well. A Halo treatment can be fine-tuned to give an overall 'glow' to your complexion, but can also be used to aggressively treat conditions such as acne scarring!Sciton's BBL and SkinTyte treatments are also excellent.  The BBL targets discoloration and age spots along with diffuse redness, fine capillaries and blood vessels in the face.  SkinTyte will help to firm and tighten (as its name implies) the deep layer of the skin.  These treatments work best after a series of 3-5 sessions have been completed.  Be sure to consult with a board certified expert who has experience with laser facial rejuvenation.  Here you will have a full evaluation and determine which treatment is best for you.I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin

Thank you for your question and your photos. For the skin characteristics you have described (texture, uneven skin tone, fine lines, pores) Halo Hybrid Fractionated Resurfacing is a great treatment that creates a noticeable improvement to the skin in one treatment. It helps clear up the skin from the browns caused by sun damage, and stimulates collage which is good for improving fine lines. Please note that neither Halo, nor BBL nor SkinTyte will improve dark circles.A Halo treatment does have 3 - 5 days of mild pealing which is annoying more than anything. Many of our patients take a day or two off public activities, then wear mineral makeup to camouflage the pealing and get on with their lives. Of course, you wouldn't have a Halo before a big event like first date, job interview or wedding. The clear tone and glo that your skin shows after a Halo is wonderful. You will see results immediately an your skin improves more as each week goes by.BBL is a fantastic solution to skin aging without any downtime. BBL clear up the skin of reds and browns, and stimulates collagen. Unlike a Halo, there is no resurfacing aspect to the treatment. BBLs are best performed in a course of 3 per year, and best when considered to be an anti aging or skin maintenance strategy. One treatment will give a little improvement but likely not what you are hoping for.In an ideal world, where the patient has no budget, 1 - 2 Halos per year (depending on skin health and age) plus 3 BBLs per year is the ultimate skin rejuvenation program. Patients who can do both love the results.SkinTyte is a great no downtime treatment that is often combined with BBLs. The main objective of SkinTyte is to improve very mild laxity or skin crape. I don't think this would address the things that are bothering you most.A few things to keep in mind:Halo has 2 laser wavelengths in one, ablative and non ablative (resurfaces and removes browns and creates channels deep in the skin, then a healing response builds collagen)you should be careful in the sun after a Halo, however you can usually have one all year roundBBL can not be performed when the patient has had sun exposure in the previous 4 - 6 weeksYou can learn more about the Halo in the link and video below.

Although all these treatments are wonderful, the best for what you are inquiring about is Halo. Halo is deep dermal remodeling of the skin and it does stimulate collagen production. Its superior for enlarged pores, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles and also helps with acne scarring and skin discoloration. Your skin will glow and you will start to see a beautiful result within 2 weeks post treatment. It has been wonderful for our patients with lasting results. I can't recommend Halo enough!

Halo can help improve all the areas that you are concerned about. Halo is a treatment that you can notice the difference within a week. It takes about 6-8 weeks for your optimal results but most patients get really excited that their skin looks better each week. You could have some swelling and redness after the treatment. It has a couple days of downtime but you can wear makeup after the second day. BBL and Skintyte could be maintenance treatments after your Halo.

Great question and thanks for posting pictures! You are a great candidate for laser skin improvement.BBL is a no-downtime treatment best in class for color (browns and reds) and antiaging. Skintyte increases the results with no added downtime.Halo can be done in a variety of intensities, all of which have some peeling and more intense treatments also often having a day or two of swelling. It also helps brown pigment some, but is my go-to treatment if someone has a few days of downtime and wants to improve your concerns - fine lines, pores and texture. It can also be combined with Skintyte and in our office, many patients love it when we do all three treatments in the same session!

You have discussed two excellent skin care treatments, HALO and Skin tyte (infrared light).  For pores and fine lines, HALO will give you more improvement.  There is very little downtime and your skin will be much lighter, much brighter.   Skin tyte is excellent also and may be a good option in between treatments.  Good luck to you~
