My left eye closes significantly when I smile. However, it only does this when smiling and looks fine when my face is normal. What would help fix this?

You should consider posting a picture of yourself when you are not smiling so you can be assessed for ptosis that is present when you are not smiling. Often correcting that can help the issue you are concerned about. Caution is advised. You might might an well meaning surgeon who operated on...
