SculpSure providers: What questions should I ask during a SculpSure consultation?

In California, a RN or doctor will perform the treatment. I would ask for their experience and numbers of patients they have performed the treatment on. Before and after photos and patient testimonials would also be helpful.

I recommend seeing a board-certified Doctor for your Sculpsure treatment. Keep in mind, with Sculpsure a combination of treatments is needed. I recommend combining Sculpsure with Vanquish and Venus Legacy/Exilis Ultra treatments. We currently use a fire and ice treatment with Coolsculpting and Vanquish for good results in fat removal. However, a VASER hi definition procedure would give you the best results with fat removal, contouring and definition. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

In North Carolina, a physician or nurse practitioner must evaluate the client first and then a technician or aesthetician may perform the actual SculpSure treatment. You will want to ask about any pre- and post- treatment instructions, what you can expect during the treatment, and what type of results would be realistic based on your size and shape. You will also want to inquire how many treatments may be needed and when to follow up for after photos and evaluation of your final results. The provider performing the treatment should stay in the room with you in order to adjust the laser levels accordingly as well.

Based on your submitted photographs, you are an excellent candidate for SculpSure.  All the machines are supplied by the same manufacturer (Cynosure) and training provided by Cynosure is excellent.  So, I believe you can go wherever you feel most comfortable.Good Luck!

Hello and thank you for your question and photos.Cynosure is excellent on keeping the practice up to date on SculpSure protocols and keeping the staff educated. SculpSure is body sculpting. It is very important to address the areas of your concerns without under treating the area. The configuration of the applicators is very important. Your photos appear that you would do well with Sculpsure treatment. However, you do require an evaluation to determine whether the lower abdominal protrusion is muscular or fatty. Sculpsure does an excellent job with noninvasive fat reduction without downtime. It will not, however, tighten musculature. The primary question for Sculpsure would be to evaluate how many treatments would be indicated, but your photos indicate that two would be appropriate.

Thank you for your question. The initial consultation is very important. In California the operator must be an RN, PA, NP or MD/DO. Check the rules for your state. Always ask what results the practice has with their treatment, any before and after photos or reviews. A practice with a lot of experience will have these at hand. Ask your Practioner how many treatments you may need. Looking at your photos you would recommend treating the lower abdomen twice, 8 weeks apart. Good luck!

Hello and thank you for your question. 
First of all, the licensing requirements differ from state to state.  Our practice is in CA, where it is required that a Registered Nurse or above perform the SculpSure treatment.  Typically, our RN stays in the room with the patient for the duration of the treatment, for maximum comfort and reassurance.  Since only an RN or above can make adjustments to the treatment settings (heat and cycle), this adds to the patient experience and satisfaction level. 
You will want a clinician to be honest with you at your consultation-not all potential patients are good candidates for SculpSure, which works best on patients with a BMI of 30 or less (or 43 or less for the submental/chin area).  The clinician will also want to obtain medical information from you to ensure you do not have any contraindications related to laser treatment and fat lipolysis.  We offer the use of a Zimmer chiller for spot cooling (which blows cold air) during treatment as a comfort distraction to our patients, and many really appreciate this. 
An experienced and skilled clinician will also use visual charts and work with you to determine the best placement of the applicators related to your "problem areas" and treatment goals.
Finally, your clinician should also work with you to determine the estimated number of treatments and timing-in most cases this should be thought of as a two or more treatment protocol with treatments spaced 8-12 weeks apart.  Every patient should have a customized treatment plan that integrates all of the above.

In California it must be an RN and above for a class 4 laser. I believe the consultation should be with the best individual available to assess your needs. If you only do one thing, that is what you recommend. I do basically only SculpSure but turn away some people who are not good candidates for amount of fat (+ or-), locations, or probable unwillingness to follow through with 2-3 treatments. “Treat to complete” is not acceptable to all. My LVN assesses the anatomy for placement of frames, but I manage the laser before anything happens.
